{"id":12618,"date":"2026-04-13T19:34:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T18:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/lufthansa-strike-cancels-flights-for-two-days-for-this-reason\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T20:33:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T19:33:42","slug":"lufthansa-strike-cancels-flights-for-two-days-for-this-reason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/en\/lufthansa-strike-cancels-flights-for-two-days-for-this-reason\/","title":{"rendered":"Lufthansa strike cancels flights for two days for this reason!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The pilots\u2019 union at Lufthansa has announced a two-day full strike starting at midnight on April 13, 2026, and continuing until the end of April 14, 2026, due to ongoing disputes with the company\u2019s management over the pension system.  <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcockpit.de\/vereinigung-cockpit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The pilots\u2019 union, known as Vereinigung Cockpit (VC)<\/a>, stated that the strike will include pilots from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufthansa.com\/us\/en\/homepage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Lufthansa<\/a>, Lufthansa Cargo, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufthansacityline.com\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Lufthansa CityLine<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurowings.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Eurowings<\/a>, a subsidiary of the group, whose pilots are also scheduled to carry out a separate strike on April 13. <\/p>\n\n<p>The union confirmed that flights to several Middle Eastern countries will not be affected by the strike, including: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Egypt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saudi Arabia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>United Arab Emirates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Qatar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kuwait<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jordan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lebanon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bahrain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oman<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yemen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Iraq<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Azerbaijan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This exception aims to reduce the impact of the strike on <a href=\"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/en\/travel-time-reduced-between-istanbul-and-ankara-in-turkey\/\">travel<\/a> in the region, especially during peak travel periods. <\/p>\n\n<p>Union leader Andreas Pinheiro stated that the decision came after repeated negotiations with the company\u2019s management failed, emphasizing that the union was forced to take this step after no serious offers were made to resolve the issue.   <\/p>\n\n<p>He noted that the union had previously refrained from striking during the Easter holiday period in an attempt to allow time for an agreement, but the talks made no meaningful progress.  <\/p>\n\n<p>For its part, Lufthansa criticized the strike decision, calling it an unprecedented escalation, and stated that the union\u2019s demands to double the pension system\u2014described by the company as \u201cabove average\u201d\u2014are unrealistic and difficult to implement.     <\/p>\n\n<p>The company expects the strike to cause widespread disruption to <a href=\"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/en\/snow-disrupts-air-travel-in-amsterdam-hundreds-of-flights-canceled\/\">air traffic<\/a> across Europe, with a large number of flights likely to be canceled or delayed during the two-day period <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pilots\u2019 union at Lufthansa has announced a two-day full strike starting at midnight on April 13, 2026, and continuing until the end of April 14, 2026, due to ongoing disputes with the company\u2019s management over the pension system.
