The new Tobacco and Vapes Bill prohibits the sale of cigarettes to individuals born after 2008 for life, meaning this group will never be legally able to purchase tobacco products, even after reaching adulthood. <\/p>\n\n
The goal is to prevent younger generations from ever starting smoking, rather than trying to reduce it after addiction begins. Authorities see this as a long-term preventive approach to tackling smoking-related health damage. <\/p>\n\n
Health Secretary Wes Streeting described the decision as historic, stating that the new legislation will help create the first smoke-free generation and reduce addiction and related health risks. <\/p>\n\n
