developments came after a parliamentary meeting that brought together representatives from several <a href=\"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/en\/caregiving-leave-of-up-to-two-years-for-workers-in-spain\/\">Spanish<\/a> political parties, along with a representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, where participants discussed the exclusion of stateless persons from <a href=\"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/en\/how-much-are-the-collective-regularization-fees-in-spain\/\">the collective regularization<\/a> approved by the Council of Ministers in mid-April. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0c07e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Proposals to include Sahrawis in Spain\u2019s collective regularization process<\/mark><\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img addressing the exclusion of stateless individuals, particularly members of the Sahrawi people, who are considered among the most affected groups by this decision.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The main options being discussed include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Including Sahrawis who hold \u201cstateless person\u201d status within the collective regularization program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amending the current regulatory framework or issuing a ministerial decision to remove their exclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working to lift the ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/europedia24.com\/%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%ad%d8%b5%d9%88%d9%84-%d8%b9%d9%84%d9%89-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%ac%d9%86%d8%b3%d9%8a%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a5%d8%b3%d8%a8%d8%a7%d9%86%d9%8a%d8%a9\/\">Spanish nationality<\/a> legislation for Sahrawis, which has been stalled in the Justice Committee of Parliament since March 2025. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Political sources confirmed that there is strong momentum within Parliament to support this initiative, as a parliamentary majority believes that this group\u2019s legal status should be resolved. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0711e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Broad political support from different parties in Spain<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n<p>What stands out in these discussions is the support coming from multiple political sides, including both left-wing and conservative parties, which is unusual in domestic political issues.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Representatives from several parties participated in the meeting, including: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M\u00e1s Madrid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>United Left<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Podemos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basque Nationalist Party<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People\u2019s Party<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The presence of these parties suggests a broad political consensus on the need to find a legal solution for Sahrawis and stateless persons in Spain.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0709e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Absence of the Socialist Party raises questions<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n<p>On the other hand, the Spanish Socialist Workers\u2019 Party did not attend the meeting, raising political questions about the position of the current government on this issue.  <\/p>\n\n<p>According to statements reported by political sources, the absence of the Socialist Party was not surprising, especially after the shift in the government\u2019s position since 2022, when it supported an initiative related to the Western Sahara issue.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Some parties also pointed out that successive Spanish governments have historically recognized the right to self-determination for the Sahrawi people, although recent policies have sparked political debate over this
