Canada Warns Citizens Against Traveling to Australia Due to Approaching Cyclone
Canada has issued an urgent travel warning for its citizens regarding Australia, as a powerful tropical cyclone named Narelle approaches, raising concerns about its potentially severe impact on lives and infrastructure.
According to official updates, the cyclone is expected to hit northern Queensland before moving across the Gulf of Carpentaria toward the Northern Territory, expanding the areas at risk over the coming days.
Authorities warn that the cyclone could bring violent winds reaching up to 250 km/h, along with extremely heavy rainfall that may cause flash floods and landslides in several regions.
Forecasts also indicate the storm could escalate to Category 5—the highest level on the cyclone scale—heightening the risk of widespread destruction to buildings and infrastructure networks.
Air travel and essential services are expected to be heavily affected, with potential power and water outages, disrupted communications, and challenges in accessing medical services in affected areas.
The Canadian government urges its citizens in Australia, or planning to travel there, to monitor developments closely, follow local authorities’ instructions, and register with consular services to receive emergency alerts.
