Turkey Launches Electronic Authorization System to Combat Fake Real Estate Ads

Turkey’s Ministry of Trade has begun implementing an electronic authorization system in the real estate market to prevent the sale or rental of any property without official approval from its owner.

This new measure comes in response to the spread of fake listings and price manipulation in Turkey’s online real estate market, where anyone—neighbors, guards, or unlicensed agents—could list a property they didn’t own for sale or rent.

The new system allows real estate platforms like “Sahibinden” to be linked with land registry records, ensuring that no listing is accepted unless the true owner grants an official authorization to a licensed real estate office, thereby enhancing transparency and protecting consumer rights.

The system requires property owners to verify their identity through the government’s e-government portal (e-Devlet) and select a licensed real estate office to receive authorization, This authorization is valid for three months and can be renewed.

Property owners who wish to sell or rent their properties independently, without intermediaries, are exempt from these procedures. The government emphasizes that the primary goal of the new system is to combat fraudulent listings and protect the real estate market from deceptive practices.
