Brussels Adjusts Green Waste Collection System Without Changing Pickup Days
The Brussels sanitation authority announced modifications to the green waste collection system across the capital’s districts, aiming to improve service organization and enhance waste management efficiency.
The authority confirmed that the scheduled collection day for each area in Belgium will remain unchanged, noting that the new adjustments focus on organizational aspects and the proper presentation of this type of waste to ensure smoother collection and processing.
Green waste includes garden residues such as grass, leaves, and small branches, which are separated from other household waste for recycling or conversion into organic compost, in line with Belgium’s sustainability plans.
Authorities have urged residents to comply with the instructions regarding acceptable waste types and proper bag placement, warning that non-compliance may result in collection refusal under current regulations.
This step is part of ongoing efforts to improve public sanitation services in Brussels and address environmental challenges associated with increasing urban waste volumes.
