How much do beneficiaries of the CPAS social welfare center in Belgium receive?

The integration income (CPAS) in Belgium draws the attention of many citizens and residents, especially with the growing need for social support.

This income is not uniform; it varies according to personal and family circumstances. Benjamin Scandella, Head of the Public Social Welfare Center, explains that the monthly amounts are determined based on family status:

  • Head of household: up to €1,811
  • Single person: up to €1,340
  • Cohabiting person: up to €893

These figures represent the maximum amount and can be practically reduced according to the actual resources of each beneficiary.

Integration income is calculated based on family resources, including parents and children, and sometimes even grandparents and grandchildren, while the income of a friend or roommate in the same household is not counted, to ensure an accurate assessment of needs.

Owning a house may reduce or cancel the right to income; the decrease can be about €400 for a single person compared to a renter. In the case of inheritance, any amount from the sale of a property is taken into account, which may lead to the beneficiary losing their income from the program.
