Judicial Investigation into Visa Fraud in Spain

Judicial authorities in Tangier have launched a wide-ranging investigation following the discovery of irregularities in several visa application files for entry into Spain, according to reports submitted by the Spanish consulate in the city.

An official statement indicated that the consulate, during its file review, detected suspicious and inaccurate documents, mainly including employment contracts, payroll statements, and bank account records submitted by visa applicants, raising suspicions of forgery or providing misleading information to circumvent legal requirements.

Based on this notification, the Public Prosecutor at the Tangier Primary Court ordered the Judicial Police to conduct a comprehensive preliminary investigation, which includes subjecting the suspect documents to technical examinations and detailed analysis to verify their authenticity and detect irregularities, while tracing any potential involvement of intermediaries or illegal networks in preparing these files.

Suspects are expected to be referred to the Public Prosecutor after the investigation concludes, with warnings of criminal penalties and potential bans from entering Spain if forgery is confirmed.

These developments come as European consulates increasingly tighten scrutiny of documents submitted with visa applications to combat fraud and unauthorized attempts to enter European Union countries.
