Train Services Halted in Northern Germany Due to Heavy Snow

The railway line between Braunschweig and the Harz region in northern Germany has come to a complete standstill due to heavy snowfall accompanied by strong winds, causing major disruptions and increasing delays in train schedules.

German railway company erixx stated that train operations on the Braunschweig – Vienenburg – Goslar/Bad Harzburg line cannot currently be guaranteed. Many services have been canceled, while others are experiencing significant delays.

To mitigate the impact, the company has arranged emergency replacement buses, though they operate without a fixed timetable and have fewer seats than the usual trains.

The company confirmed that no precise forecast is available for improvement until the snowplow machinery arrives, with normal train service expected to resume by Monday noon.

This situation directly affects passenger transport in northern Germany and requires continuous monitoring by the authorities to ensure passenger safety and continuity of services.
