Warnings of a Severe Snowstorm Hitting Sweden on New Year’s Eve
The Swedish Meteorological Agency has issued warnings of a new snowstorm expected to hit several regions of the country on New Year’s Eve, just days after Storm Johannes caused widespread damage and power outages.
According to forecasts, large areas of Sweden are expected to experience heavy snowfall accompanied by strong winds, especially in the northern and central parts of the country, where snow accumulation could reach 30–40 cm in some areas.
Authorities have warned of difficult traffic conditions and an increased risk of accidents, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and to prepare for potential power outages due to severe weather.
These warnings come at a time when some areas have not yet fully recovered from the effects of Storm Johannes, which caused fallen trees, road closures, and damage to electricity and communication networks.
Authorities have confirmed that they are closely monitoring the weather developments and will provide continuous updates as the storm approaches, urging residents to follow meteorological reports and adhere to safety instructions.
