Warnings of a Severe Snowstorm in Toronto

The Greater Toronto Area is preparing for an intense winter storm, with forecasts predicting the heaviest snowfall since the beginning of the current winter season. Snow accumulation could reach up to 20 centimeters by midday today, according to official warnings from the Canadian Meteorological Service.

The agency warned residents that snowfall will begin Wednesday evening and continue through Thursday, with the potential for reduced visibility and strong winds, which could significantly affect movement and transportation across Toronto.

The warning covers Durham, York, Peel, Halton, Hamilton, and Niagara, with expectations that traffic will be more difficult during morning rush hours, urging residents to take necessary precautions.

Meteorologists indicated that temperatures will drop sharply to -9°C, with a wind chill making it feel as cold as -22°C, while midday temperatures may feel around -16°C.

Some areas, such as Niagara and Prince Edward County, could be more heavily impacted, with additional snowfall possible due to lake effects in regions south and east of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.

Forecasts suggest that Thursday may experience the highest snowfall of the winter in Toronto, with frigid conditions persisting throughout the day, making it essential for residents to follow official guidance to avoid potential hazards.
