Several Turkish Provinces Suspend Schooling Tomorrow Due to Snowstorm
Several Turkish provinces have announced the suspension of school classes on Tuesday due to a severe snowstorm and heavy snowfall across large parts of the country, in a move aimed at ensuring student safety and protecting them from slippery roads and harsh weather conditions.
Local authorities stated that multiple eastern provinces have issued urgent decisions to close schools at all educational levels (primary, middle, and high schools) for one day. So far, this includes Bingöl, Hakkari, Tunceli, and parts of Erzurum.
These provinces explained that the closures came after some rural roads were blocked and with further snowfall expected in the coming hours, making travel difficult and increasing the risk of accidents.
Meanwhile, no official announcement has yet been made regarding school closures in major Turkish cities such as Istanbul and Ankara, despite warnings from authorities about low temperatures and severe weather fluctuations.
The stance of local governments in these cities is expected to become clearer in the coming hours. These decisions are part of the government’s response to unstable weather conditions in Turkey, with authorities prioritizing the safety of students and families, especially in mountainous and rural areas most affected by snow.
