Suspension of Public Transport Services in France Due to Snow and Frost Wave Hitting the Country

A severe wave of snow and frost has swept across large parts of France and Europe, resulting in several deaths and causing major disruptions to road and air transport.

The harsh weather conditions have led to tragic traffic accidents on French roads, claiming at least five lives due to vehicles sliding on icy surfaces.

In Paris and several regions of northern France, roads have seen increased snow accumulation along with thin layers of ice, raising the risks for drivers.

Local authorities have announced the suspension of some public transport services and restrictions on the movement of certain heavy trucks until weather conditions improve.

The impact of the cold wave has not been limited to France; it has extended to several other European countries. Internal train services in the Netherlands were halted due to technical system failures, and hundreds of flights at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport were canceled because of snow accumulation and de-icing operations.

European meteorological centers have warned that harsh weather conditions are expected to continue in the coming days, with further snowfall and additional drops in temperature, potentially putting more pressure on transport networks and increasing safety risks across several regions of the continent.
