Strong storm hits France with warnings of heavy rain and snow
Several regions in France are preparing for a severe weather wave on Wednesday and Thursday, as a new low-pressure system approaches, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and significant snowfall in mountainous areas.
According to meteorological forecasts, the incoming system from the Atlantic Ocean will initially affect western and central parts of the country, before gradually spreading to wider areas, potentially causing traffic disruptions and rising water levels in some low-lying regions.
Coastal areas along the Atlantic are expected to be the most affected in the initial phase of the storm, with heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds that could lead to falling tree branches and interruptions in some services.
In mountainous regions, particularly the Alps and the Pyrenees, forecasts indicate heavy snowfall, which may impact traffic on mountain roads and requires drivers to exercise caution.
Local authorities have urged residents to follow official weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides, and advise avoiding non-essential travel during peak storm periods.
This weather wave comes as part of a series of climatic disturbances France has experienced in recent weeks, amid sharp fluctuations between calm and stormy periods.
