Berlin Hotels Offer Reduced Rates for Those Affected by Power Outages

Dozens of hotels in Germany’s capital, Berlin, have announced that they are opening their doors to residents affected by power outages in the southwest of the city, offering hotel rooms at reduced rates to help alleviate the impact of the current crisis.

This initiative was launched in response to a call from the Berlin Hotel Association—which represents over 200 hotels and hostels across the city—in collaboration with Berlin’s official tourism board.

The association clarified that prices start at €70 for a double room, including breakfast, with the option for quick booking using the special code “stromausfall,” available until electricity is fully restored in the affected areas.

As an additional measure of support, Berlin state authorities have decided to exempt these stays from the city tax, reflecting a spirit of community solidarity with the families still affected by the power outage.

The organizers emphasized that the hotel rooms on offer are priced at cost only, aiming to ease the burden on those affected and provide them with a safe haven during this challenging period.

The state government pointed out that this initiative is part of a series of measures designed to support residents during times of crisis, with the power outage still affecting around 35,000 households.

Affected residents can view the list of participating hotels on the association’s official website and contact them directly to book rooms quickly and easily.
