Spain’s Alicante province launches a unified transport card for €60 per month

Spain’s Alicante province has announced the launch of a new monthly transport card worth €60, allowing users unlimited travel on public buses, commuter trains, and regional trains. This initiative aims to reduce daily transportation costs and encourage the use of public transport.

Local authorities indicated that the card will be available starting from the second half of next January and will cover all major transport networks in the province, helping to improve access to services and reduce reliance on private cars.

According to the official statement, this initiative will provide direct support to residents, workers, and students who travel regularly within Alicante and neighboring towns, amid the growing need for affordable and sustainable transportation options.

The Spanish government also confirmed that the card is part of a plan to issue a “unified travel card,” allowing travel across various public transport networks nationwide at a fixed price of €60 per month for adults and €30 for young people under 26.

Millions of users in Alicante and other parts of Spain are expected to benefit from this initiative, as it reduces monthly expenses, increases public transport efficiency, and helps decrease traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
