Ryanair Adds 11 New Destinations in Germany After Ticket Tax Cuts
Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, Europe’s largest budget carrier, has announced the addition of 11 new destinations in Germany as part of its summer 2026 schedule, following the German government’s decision to cut airline ticket taxes.
Ryanair explained that the expansion will include an additional 300,000 seats, with a focus on smaller airports such as Weeze, Memmingen, and Bremen, alongside extra flights from Cologne–Bonn Airport.
In contrast, major cities such as Hamburg and Berlin will see a reduction in flights of 20% and 5% respectively, due to these airports not lowering their fees.
Eddie Wilson, a Ryanair executive, commented that the new services come in response to the government’s tax cuts on airline tickets. However, he noted that total available flights in summer 2026 will still be lower than the previous year, despite the expansion at smaller airports.
