Brussels Metro Service Suspended on Lines 1 and 5 as Replacement Buses Operate
Brussels Metro experienced disruptions on Wednesday on Lines 1 and 5, according to an announcement by Belgium’s public transport authority, STIB.
The authority explained that Line 1 is suspended between Maelbeek and Montgomery stations, while Line 5 is not operating between Maelbeek and Thieffry, affecting the daily journeys of thousands of passengers.
To ensure continued mobility, STIB has deployed replacement bus services to transport passengers between the affected stations. However, no timeline has yet been given for how long the disruption will last or when normal metro services will resume in Brussels.
These disruptions come amid heavy pressure on several Brussels metro lines, as calls continue for improved maintenance and faster solutions to minimize the impact of service suspensions on residents’ daily lives.
