Storm Chandra Disrupts Schools and Travel Across the UK

The United Kingdom is facing widespread travel and education disruptions after Storm Chandra swept across the country, bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding. Authorities have issued 69 official flood warnings and implemented extensive precautionary measures.

The severe weather has forced the closure of hundreds of schools, canceled flights and road travel, and halted train services in many areas, with warnings that the adverse conditions could persist.

Meteorologists warned that continued rainfall and rising river levels in parts of England, Scotland, and Wales mean weather alerts remain in effect. They urged residents to avoid non-essential travel, especially in affected areas.

In southwest England, where flooding has been particularly severe, authorities advised extreme caution near standing water on roads and warned of the dangers of driving through submerged areas.

Warnings cover large parts of the country, with forecasts of more rain and strong winds that could worsen damage, lead to further road closures, and disrupt essential services in the coming hours.
