Alicante Launches €200 Support for Young Drivers

The Youth Council of Alicante, Spain, has announced a financial support program for young people who obtain their driving licenses in the second half of 2025, as part of local authorities’ efforts to enhance youth independence and mobility in the city.

According to official details, the program provides €200 per beneficiary, distributed across 50 grants with a total budget of €10,000. The grants are available to registered residents of Alicante aged 15 to 30 who obtain any type of driving license between July 1 and December 31, 2025.

Officials confirmed that the support aims to ease the financial burden on young people, particularly the costs of obtaining a driving license, which is considered a key factor in accessing job opportunities and achieving independent mobility within the city and surrounding areas.

Eligibility criteria prioritize large families, single-parent households, and individuals with disabilities of 33% or higher. In the event of a tie between candidates, the younger applicant will be selected.

Carlos de Juan, Head of the Youth Department at the municipality, noted that the initiative is part of broader youth support and independence policies, in cooperation with other programs such as language training and career guidance.

He also revealed that a new call for grants covering the entire year of 2026 is being prepared and will be announced in 2027.
